Oh Chicago. I can’t say enough about Chicago. This city was the highlight of our trip. It was full of architecture, beautiful parks and amazing food. Some of the many things Chicago is famous for are: Deep dish pizza, Chicago-style hot dogs, jazz music, museums, many loyal baseball fans, and jazz music.
We stayed in Chicago for two nights. We wished we even could have stayed longer. There was just so much to do and see! We took the train downtown to explore the beautiful parks and admire the architecture.
Of course we couldn’t have gone to Chicago without taking a selfie in front of the iconic ‘Bean’ in Millennium park. This statue is one that every tourist flocks to. It was surrounded by a beautiful park right in the heart of the city. The park was full of different events, people displaying their art and an interesting mix of music. There was an endless amount of things to do or see there.
We then walked quite a distance to Navy Pier. This is where you can find thrilling rides, restaurants on the water, shopping, museums and gorgeous cityscape views. We got an ice cream cone to beat the heat and watched sailboats and seagulls go by.
You also can’t go to Chicago and not try a deep dish pizza! We got recommended to go to Giordano’s. There was a location downtown and another close to our hotel. It was our first try at deep dish pizza and it did not disappoint! Oh goodness…delicious! We ordered a small but even still got lots of leftovers from it. It’s a very filling pizza with buttery crust, tons of cheese and meat.
Look at that cheese! They had different selections for their deep dish pizza. Their classic is with sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions. We decided to try their Meat deep dish option. It was stuffed with pepperoni, salami, sausage and bacon. Carson was in heaven.
Chicago quickly became one of our favorite cities. There is so history in this city that it is a wonderful place to explore. It was a great ending to a road trip of a lifetime.
Now we are happily settled in Brockville, Ontario.
Until next time!
